Junior Designer Internship

SYLLABUS
Roughly two thirds of the duties of our intern include assisting Designer Karen Vidal in surveying, sketching, layouts, computer graphics, securing material and paint samples; as well as cabinetry, appliances and hardware selection and purchase.

The remainder of duties will include assisting Guy Vidal in drafting design contracts; liaison work with engineers, contractors and researching permit histories with municipal building departments; as well assembling and maintaining client files and Design Vidal’s office.

Knowledge of AutoCAD a must! Intern will be routinely assigned the task of measuring and plotting out an existing home, including elevations. Therefore beginner knowledge of AutoCad is not sufficient.

Other skills sought: In Design, AI, Photoshop, SkechUp, Revit, Word and Excel and PowerPoint/Keynote. Manual Drafting, sketching, color pencil drawing are a plus.

Interior Design Business Practices and Strategy


SYLLABUS

The goal of the internship is to give the student the skills necessary to start a business.

This internship is designed to immerse the student in the business of interior design from the get go. Interns will work in all areas of our business: marketing, PR, sales, contracts, budgets and cost tracking, photo shoot coordination, photo editing, website design and update, etc.

Interns will assist Guy Vidal in drafting and designing design contracts, press releases, eFlyers, and budgets. They will work with clients, architects, engineers, contractors and research permit histories with municipal building departments; They will create and update client files and databases and help maintain the Design Vidal office.

Skills taught in this internship: Negotiations; Business strategy; Advanced Excel budgeting and forecasting; Quick Books financial statements analysis; ASID contracts, ACCESS Database.

Interior Design Marketing and ECommerce NEW!

SYLLABUS
Design Vidal is now offering eCommerce Internship for students specializing in ecommerce and having a strong proficiency and savvy in all things internet. Duties will include email marketing, press releases, SEO, Traffic analysis, Social Networking, Blogging; Web site updating.

Knowledge of Dream Weaver and Photoshop / Illustrator a plus.
